As a reader, writer, and researcher, there are several things that I have learned that I will put into practice not only in my field of career but in different spheres of life. As a reader, I have learned to effectively convey strong ideas because I do not only write about my personal experience but also information I get from reading books, articles, journals, and other written scholarly articles. Furthermore, my reading strategies have greatly improved, from pulling quotes from articles to critically understanding and comprehending what I am reading about. As a reader, I have learned to read and connect lessons learned, ask questions, and capture information that will help me. Moreover, reading articles from my classmates has helped me improve my peer review skills. I have improved my final report writing because I no longer use rough graft as my final draft. Reading has helped me improve my sentences and paragraphs in my architecture reports and class assignments.
As a researcher, I have learned to read, analyze and critique or support the work of others. Research has helped me get hands-on experience in the architectural field and apply what I have learned in class to the real world. I have learned and gained experience of what it feels like to work in the construction centers, researched architectural planning of experiments, and how to present and report findings. Research has expanded my mind and helped me gain a deeper understanding of architectural dynamics.
How I will use what I have learned as a writer in other writing situations
Vital writing techniques are essential in everyday life and different writing situations( Durga et al., 2018). Good writing skills will simplify my everyday life, and my student life as an architecture student will have stressful situations in terms of writing my reports and general class essay assignments. Writing techniques will make my work easier to read, and my instructors will easily understand my written assignments. In addition to that, I will use my writing skills to improve my class performance. For instance, writing a wide range of papers in architecture classes will give me much information on my final papers. Good writing skills will be my key to success because instructors grade the quality of work done, including the content and good organization of information and flow of ideas from one paragraph to the other. Writing skills will help me reduce grammatical errors and poor spelling, which are the leading causes of poor performance in all architecture units.
I will use robust writing techniques to apply for an internship program in my community. Persuasive points in my application letter and interview will demonstrate the brilliant techniques that will make me stand out and be a unique applicant. I will use my writing skills to convince employers of my good communication capabilities and ability to deliver quality field and organizational reports that do not have grammar and spelling errors. In addition to that, I will use vital writing techniques to communicate effectively with my fellow students at the college via email or text messages. Furthermore, I will use writing skills to demonstrate my professionalism and intelligence in paying attention to every detail of my work in my college. I will use my knowledge in good writing to improve my interpersonal relationships and communications with my fellow college mates and the community as a whole. For instance, when writing an email to my instructor on an essential issue concerning my academic progress, I will use good writing techniques to receive a positive final result. I will use good writing skills to educate my colleagues and the society about the impacts of weather conditions on the durability of the built environment.’ In addition, good writing skills will enable my ‘audiences from all the texts of life to learn and understand the importance of developing more sustainable building practice the enhancement of the durability and maintainability of architectural products.’
How I have changed my career path
My inspiration to be in architecture has increased since I developed reading and research techniques that have helped me learn more about architecture. More reading and research have improved my drawing and graphic designing in architecture because I learn new ideas and drawing skills. More interaction with architecture instructors had helped me have a great desire to pursue the career than before when” Ï did not have any outside influences that influenced my decision to study architecture, but the act that I had prior hands-on experience with designing which made it easy for me to pursue architecture career’.
