Literacy Lesson Plan Final Project
DAY 1
MATHS LESSON PLAN
Subject Area: Counting Using Counters
Grade Level: Prek-3rd Grade
Lesson Tittle: “Counting”
Objectives:
- Students will be able to count up to twenty by pronouncing the numbers correctly as well as the counters correctly.
- The study will enable the students to be able to count the things in the surrounding like the number of class members and identify quantity of things around.
Materials:
Different types of counters.
Mold of numbers.
Introduction:
I will engage the students to identify the numbers in the board (1 to 20). I will then distribute molds and ask the students to make an emulation of the numbers on the board. The students will have enough time to study the numbers and make mold emulation (ket.org, 2020). I will introduce the counters and give every student counters amounting to twenty. I will give the students additional time to play with the counters.https://penstrokeswriters.com/?p=1167&preview=true
Procedure:
I will introduce the students to counting using counters. With the space, I will let them place all the twenty counters to the left and then count by taking one at a time to the right side. Every counter moved to the right will be counted according to the arrangement in the board.
Guided or Independent Practice:
The guided practice is that I will divide the students into irrational groups and tell each group to count themselves and give ne the answer.
Check for understanding:
I will use personal practice to evaluate the students:
Students identify the numbers on the board as well as being able to count using the counters by moving the counters from left to right as they count.
DAY 2
MATHS LESSON PLAN
Subject Area: Addition of one digit number using counters
Grade Level: Prek-3rd Grade
Lesson Tittle: “Addition by Counters”
Objectives:
- The students will be able to add two numbers but with only one digit using counters.
- Students will be able to apply the addition knowledge in real life situation.
Materials:
Counters
Introduction:
I will introduce the students to addition sign and tell them of what is addition with examples of counters.
I will introduce addition of numbers with counters. I will use the counters in emulating the addition of two numbers not exceeding nine (Jones, 2020).
Procedure:
I will guide the students to count for instance, 3 counters and put to the right side; then count 4 counters and put together to the three counters on the right and at last counts all the counters at the right. This process will be repeated with other addition questions that I will give in the class.
Guided or Independent Practice:
I will guide the students in two groups and give them each group digits to add and give me the right answer.
Check for understanding:
I will use questions to assess the level of understanding; students who will demonstrate the addition correctly by using the counters.
DAY 3
MATHS LESSON PLAN
Subject Area: Subtraction of one digit number using counters
Grade Level: Prek-3rd Grade
Lesson Tittle: “Subtraction by Counters”
Objectives:
- The students will be able to subtract two numbers but with only one digit using counters.
- Students will be able to apply the subtraction in real life situation.
Materials:
Counters
Introduction:
I will introduce the students to subtraction sign and tell them of what is subtraction with examples of counters.
I will introduce subtraction of numbers with counters. I will use the counters in emulating the subtraction of two numbers not exceeding nine (math-only-math, 2021).
Procedure:
I will introduce subtraction by counters. For instance, I will tell the students to count nine counters and place to the right side; then out of the nine counters remove five counters and transfer to the left side. The remainder of the counters at the right hand side is the answer of the subtraction.
Guided or Independent Practice:
I will group students in two groups and guide them (each group separately) on how to do subtraction by using counters. I will give each group separate question to handle using the counters under my guidance and supervision.
Check for understanding:
I will use questions to assess the level of understanding; students who will demonstrate the subtraction correctly by using the counters.
DAY 4
MATHS LESSON PLAN
Subject Area: Matching Addition Question to Right Answer
Grade Level: Prek-3rd Grade
Lesson Tittle: “Matching Addition Question to Right Answer”
Objectives:
- Student will be able to do addition using counters and get an answer.
- Students will be able to identify the answer of addition between other values.
- The students will be able to match the addition question to the answer.
Materials:
Counters
Drawing color pens (one red, one yellow, one green).
Introduction:
I will give students the drawing color pens (one red, one yellow, one green). The students will have good time playing with the drawing color pens as well as the counters as they remind themselves of the previous addition and subtraction lesson (Staake, 2021).
Procedure:
I will give the students addition question to handle by using counters and get the answer. I will guide them on identifying the answer from the list given and help on shading the question and the answer using one color of the drawing pen. Additionally, I will guide the students to drawing a connecting line of the answer
Guided or Independent Practice:
I will group the students in three groups according to three groups of the colors and give them three addition questions with three answers and three drawing color pens (one red, one yellow, one green) to use one color in each question.
Check for understanding:
I will assess for understanding by giving questions and the students are to match correctly by drawing connecting lines.
DAY 5
MATHS LESSON PLAN
Subject Area: Matching Subtraction Question to Right Answer
Grade Level: Prek-3rd Grade
Lesson Tittle: “Matching Subtraction Question to Right Answer”
Objectives:
- Student will be able to do subtraction using counters and get an answer.
- Students will be able to identify the answer of subtraction between other values.
- The students will be able to match the subtraction question to the answer.
Materials:
Procedure:
I will give the students subtraction question to handle by using counters and get the answer. I will guide them on categorizing the answer from the list given and help on shading the question and the answer using one color of the drawing pen. Furthermore, I will guide the students to drawing a connecting line of the answer
Guided or Independent Practice:
I will group the students in three groups according to three groups of the colors and give them three subtraction questions with three answers and three drawing color pens (one red, one yellow, one green) to use one color in each question.
Check for understanding:
I will assess for understanding by giving questions and the students are to match appropriately by drawing connecting lines.
